Constantinos Philippou

It looks like UFC 155 has a new middleweight fight. There are multiple reports citing an injury to Chris Weidman forcing him out of his scheduled fight against Tim Boetsch. Weidman implied things are not well via his Twitter account:

When it rains it pours. Hopefully this will be a blessing in disguise. Thank you everyone for your support.

Constantinos Philippou (11-2, 1NC) will be stepping in to face Tim Boetsch at UFC 155. Philippou was scheduled to fight last Saturday against Nick Ring at UFC 154. However, Ring pulled out of the fight at the last minute due to being sick. Philippou has won four consecutive fights since losing his UFC debut, and last fought at UFC 148 taking a unanimous decision against Riki Fukuda.

Tim Boetsch (16-4) hasn’t fought since earning an upset split decision victory over former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard at UFC 149. Boetsch has won four consecutive bouts since joining the middleweight division after fighting exclusively at light heavyweight.

UFC 155 will take place on December 29th in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be headlined by the UFC heavyweight title fight between the champ Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez.
