The reshuffling of fights from the now canceled UFC 151 event, plus some new fights have been announced by the UFC. A heavyweight bout between Lavar Johnson and Brendan Schaub, plus a welterweight bout between Matt Brown and Mike Swick have been added to UFC on FOX 5. Also, the following fights that were scheduled for UFC 151 have been moved to the UFC on FOX 5 event:
Johnson (17-6) is coming off a first round submission loss to Stefan Struve at UFC 146. Johnson had won two consecutive bouts going into that fight, winning “Knockout of the Night” honors in both fights. He’ll be taking on Brendan Schaub (8-3) who hasn’t fought since being knocked out by Ben Rothwell at UFC 145. Schaub has suffered knockout losses in back-to-back fights.
Matt Brown (15-11) is coming off a TKO win over Luis Ramos in June which was also his third consecutive win inside the UFC. Brown has won four out of his last five bouts and looks to continue his string of success against Mike Swick. Swick (15-4) made a triumphant return to the cage a few weeks ago, overcoming adversity and knocking out DeMarques Johnson in the second round. Prior to that bout it had been over two years since Swick was seen in MMA action.
