Asia’s largest mixed martial arts promotion, ONE Fighting Championship has confirmed they have officially signed the best lightweight in Asia, Shinya Aoki (30-6-1), to a multi-fight deal. Aoki is scheduled to make his debut with the promotion in the main event at “ONE FC: Pride of a Nation” in Manila on August 31.

The signing of Aoki is without a doubt, the biggest signing that ONE FC has made thus far. Aoki has a huge following not only in Asia but internationally as well. He is the last fighter to hold the DREAM lightweight title and has competed in numerous MMA promotions such as DREAM, Shooto, Strikeforce, Bellator and of course, PRIDE.

He has also faced and defeated some of the biggest names in MMA including Eddie Alvarez, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Joachim Hansen and Caol Uno, just to name a few.

Aoki has held all his recent training camps at Evolve MMA in Singapore and is part of Evolve Fight Team, where he fights alongside other ONE FC fighters such as Zorobabel Moreira, Eddie Ng, Leandro Issa and Mitch Chilson. Aoki attributes his improved striking to the training he’s received from Evolve MMA where he trains with numerous Muay Thai world champions on a daily basis.

An opponent for Aoki’s ONE FC debut has not yet been determined. Stay close to ProMMAnow.com for the announcement. There is no doubt ONE FC is red hot at the moment. With their recent sellout show in Malaysia, the signing of one of the hottest free agents, Bibiano Fernandes, and now with the acquisition of Asia’s top lightweight, they continue to cement themselves as Asia’s leading MMA promotion.
