Tito Ortiz: ‘I know Dana White will never forgive me’

As the final bout for former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz (16-10-1) draws near, Fight Magazine’s Corissa Furr recently sat down with “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” to reflect on his illustrious career.

Ortiz talked about the impact Dana White had on his career, how much getting the win over Ryan Bader meant to him, what he will do once he retires, and his relationship with Chuck Liddell.

Now looking back, Ortiz also discussed some of the things he might have done differently in his career, and mentioned specifically the things he said against White as his biggest regret:

“Some decisions where probably against Dana, I probably shouldn’t have said some of the things I said. Some of the things I should have did, I should have carried myself a little different. I’m a very emotional guy. I wear my heart on my sleeve, a little too much I think. It gets me in trouble a lot. But I know I have integrity and I believe in the things I do. I look at my career and I think that’s probably the only thing, the stuff I said against Dana I probably shouldn’t have said. I know he’ll never forgive me. And it is what it is. But I’m just learning. I’m human.”

Tito Ortiz plans to retire, win or lose, on July 7 when he faces TUF 1 winner Forrest Griffin (18-7) for a tie-breaking third time at UFC 148. The bout will mark the end of Oritz’s 15 years as a professional MMA fighter.
