The bill to regulate Mixed Martial Arts in the state of Vermont was passed successfully through the Vermont legislature by lawmakers making it the 46th state to regulate the sport out of 48 states with an athletic commission. The last two states remaining are Connecticut and the much sought after state of New York.

UFC Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta was obviously thrilled with the news and released an official statement via UFC.com:

“Vermont’s legislation of the sport of MMA is further evidence of the continued growth and success of our sport in this country. We are pleased that fans in Vermont will now have the opportunity to watch a live UFC event in their own backyard, and look forward to making that happen.”

No announcement has yet to be made about UFC bringing an event to Vermont.
