EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — UFC on FOX 3 takes place this evening at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J., and features a match-up between top lightweight contenders Nate Diaz and Jim Miller in the main event.

The main card airs LIVE on FOX starting at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT), while the preliminary card airs LIVE on FUEL TV starting at 5 p.m ET (2 p.m. PT).

Round 1 – Bermudez throws a big right, shoots, picks Garza up and puts him down. Garza holding Bermudez’ neck, but he gets out and they stand up, clinched against the cage.  Bermudez with a big slam, lands in side control. Garza locks up a triangle but Garza escapes and ends up inside full guard. He postures up with punches, punches to the body, staying busy. More body shots. Bermudez throws his legs up but eats some shots, lands some big upkicks that hurt Bermudez. Bermudez gets inside full guard. Garza throws up a triangle briefly. Bermudez continues his ground assault. Garza sits up as Bermudez holds on him. Garza stands up and they begin to trade, head kick from Garza. Leg kick from Bermudez, shoots, big slam from Bermudez, lands on top in half guard. PMN scores the round 10-9 Bermudez.

Round 2 – Bermudez ties up Garza against the cage, elbow from Garza scores. Body shot from Bermudez, knee from Garza. Another big slam from Bermudez, lands in half guard on top. Garza with more upkicks. Bermudez pouring on the ground and pound assault. Inside full guard, staying busy, lands a couple nice big rights. Body shots. Looks for a D’arce but Garza pops out, recovers full guard, lands elbows. Garza gets to his knees. Then back to full guard. Back to the feet and Bermudez slams him one more time, big slam. Round 3 – Garza tries to pull guard and gets slammed on his back. Bermudez on top with the ground and pound, posturing up inside full guard now. Garza staying busy on bottom but he’s losing this fight. Bermudez postures up with more shots, on top in half guard now, now full guard. Garza throwing his hips up trying to make something happen. Ref (Mulhall) stands them up. Bermudez ducks punches and puts Garza down. Lets him up. Garza shoots, stuffed, takes Garza’s back, almost, ends up on top in half guard. Bermudez has had 8 takedown attempts and 8 successful takedowns. Bermudez gets full mount and unleashes some big punches as Garza covers up, gives up his back. Round 1 – They tie up, Castillo looking for the takedown, puts some knees to the thighs and gut of Cholish, presses to the cage. Cholish escapes to the center, lands a nice leg kick, misses a head kick and slips to the ground. Cholish gets the takedown but Castillo pops right up, clinched, knee to the gut from Castillo. Another knee from Castillo, Cholish escapes the clinch to the center. Jab from Cholish. Body shot and right to the face from Castillo. Jab from Cholish scores. They tie up briefly, then go back to exchanging strikes. Leg kick from Cholish. PMN scores the round 10-9 for Castillo.

Round 2 – John Danaher in Cholish’s corner giving him advice. Leg kick from Cholish. He ducks Castillo’s punches, grabs him around the body and gets the takedown. Castillo gets right up thought despite Cholish trying to hold him down. Leg kick from Cholish. Overhand right from Castillo. Cholish ducks and dodges several punches. Cholish shoots, stuffed, takes a knee to the body. Boos from the crowd filter in. Jab from Cholish. Body shot. Shoots for the takedown, stuffed. They go back to exchanging punches. Castillo gets Cholish down briefly but he’s back up, body shot from Castillo. They square up for some boxing. Still getting boos here and there at the pace I assume. Less than a minute to go. Round 1 – These guys come out swinging for the fences in the pocket. No use trying to describe this blow for blow, suffice it to say each guy threw about 20 punches in the first 10 seconds, they tie up, knee from the green haired Gaudinot. Leg kick inside from Lineker, and to the outside. Nice left from Lineker. Leg kick from Gaudinot. Nice left hook from Lineker. Nice right from Gaudinot but a one two from Linerker. Lineker seems to be getting the better of the punches at this point, but Gaudinot is scoring too. Leg kick from Lineker, left hook. Nice left to the body from Lineker. Big combo after combo from Lineker, to the body and head. Gaudinot finally has had enough and put Linker on his back. Gaudinot inside full guard. Linker striking with elbows and punches off his back. Lineker goes for a leg as Gaudinot postures up. Gaudinot on top in half guard, lands several shots as Linker gets to his feet. PMN scores the round 10-9 Lineker.

Round 2 -Head kick from Gaudinot, leg kick. Left from Lineker, body shot, left hook, again. Left to the head, right to the body. Left hook and right to the body again. Lineker has some nice hands, nice boxing. he backs Gaudinot to the cage and lands several combos to the head and body. He stuns Gaudinot. They tie up and exchange knees. Gaudinot retreats, lands a jab. Lineker has already thrown over 200 punches. Thai plum and a knee from Lineker to the body. One to the head, two to the body from Lineker. Gaudinot puts him on his back. He postures up, inside full guard. Gaudinot looks like a green haired Clay Guida. Nice big body shots from Gaudinot, two to the face. Lineker grabs a leg. Gaudinot traps an arm and lands several punches to the face, elbows. Lineker tries to get up and Gaudinot locks on a ver tight guillotine with 10 seconds to go and Lineker goes unconscious. Wow! Oh wow! My eyes are moist this fight was so incredible. I’m telling you this was one helluva fight people. Absolutely fight of the night so far and what an awesome performance from Gaudinot. He was getting out-worked on the feet, he made an adjustment and finished off an incredibly tough opponent. Just beautiful. Over 400 strikes were thrown in under 10 minutes!

(170) Pascal Krauss vs. John Hathaway

Round 1 – One two from Hathaway, they tie up, Hathaway backs out. Body shot from Hathaway, body kick. Left hand from Hathaway and a right from Krauss. Tie up, Krauss backs out. Light body kick from Hathaway connects lightly as Krauss backs up. Leg kick, jab from Krauss. Big knee to the face from Hathaway drops Krauss. Hathaway landed it after Krauss stuffed his takedown, he landed the knee on the break. Hathaway landing body shots from inside full guard. He postures up with several punches. Stands up and lets Krauss up, jumping switch kick from Hathaway connects slightly. Right hands from both guys score. Leg kick from Krauss, again. Hathaway shoots, stuffed, knee on the break. Krauss with a takedown, lands in half guard. Krauss looking to advance position. PMN scores the round 10-9 for Hathaway.

Round 2 – Hathaway gets the takedown early. Krauss controlling his posture. Hathaway  trying to stay busy, postures up as Krauss sits up briefly. Hathaway with a nice right on the chin. Krauss with a butterfly guard and he makes his way to his feet as they square up. Inside leg kick from Hathaway. Krauss clinches up but Hathaway pushes him back, lands a nice punch/kick combo. Nice right hand from Hathaway. Front kick, right hand. Krauss shoots, stuffed. Krauss leaning on him against the cage but Hathaway is able to back out. PMN scores the round 10-9 for Hathaway.

Round 3 – Leg kick from Hathaway, right hand. He slips a right from Krauss. Hathaway shoots, picks him up and slams Krauss. Krauss punches off his back as Hathaway postures up. Krauss makes his way to his feet. Left hook from Hathaway, just misses a knee to the head. Spinning backfist scores, leg kick from Krauss, again. They tie up as Krauss pushes him to the cage. Hathaway lands a big knee to the face as Krauss backs out of the clinch. Krauss’ face is a bloody mess. PMN scores the round 10-9 and the fight 30-27 for Hathaway.

(125) John Dodson vs. Timothy Elliott

Round 1 – Elliot shoots and is fighting hard for the takedown. Dodson escapes briefly but ends up getting the takedown, takes Dodson’s back, he escapes back to his feet though. Knee from Dodson to the face. Dodson has a brief takedown and Elliott goes for an armbar but Dodson escapes. Elliott is back to his feet. Lands a one two on the chin. Elliott gets poked in the eye and the bout is briefly stopped and Elliott is asked if he needs to see a doctor. They look at his eye and the fight continues. Dodson lands several punches and a knee. Elliott stalking, moving around a lot and swinging wildly but nothing much landing. PMN scores the round 10-9 for Dodson.

Round 2 – Elliott lands a couple lefts. Nice one two from Dodson. Elliott stalking. Both guys swinging big. Knee from Dodson. Left from Elliott. Nice jab from Dodson. Elliott chases him, looking for a takedown. Dodson avoids the takedown but just barely. They were all over the cage. Nice right hook from Dodson, then he lands a low blow and time out is briefly called. Big slam by Dodson as he carries him for a ride. Elliott gets right up, lands two big knees to the body from the clinch as Dodson retreats. PMN scores the round 10-9 for Dodson.

Round 3 – Elliott grabs a collar tie and lands several knees, he slips to the ground briefly. Right hook from Elliott. Knees from both guys. Leg kick from Dodson. Elliott stalking, lands a nice left, a right, left jab. Knee from Dodson. Elliott keeping on the pressure with punches though. Left hand, backing Dodson up. Dodson shoots, stuffed. Elbow from Dodson. Right from Elliott, nice combo from Elliott. He holds onto one of Dodson’s legs in the air and lands several punches. Repeat as he holds his leg up again and lands several punches. Right jab from Dodson. PMN scores the round 10-9 for Elliott and the fight 29-28 for Dodson.

(155) Michael Johnson vs. Tony Ferguson

Round 1 – Leg kick from Johnson touches inside, lands a big one outside. Light one inside. Inside leg kick from Johnson. Left hand from Johnson. Ferguson lands a right, then a counter right. Inside leg kick from Johnson. Nice head movement from Ferguson, slips Johnson’s punch combo. Ferguson slips to the ground on a leg kick attempt but he gets right up. Johnson drops Ferguson with a right left combo, Ferguson gets up and is okay and fires back. Johnson lands another punch to the chin. Inside leg kick from Johnson. Several body kicks in a row from Johnson, mostly blocked but you miss 100% of the strikes you don’t throw. Big kick to the body from Ferguson and a nice punch combo put Johnson on the retreat. PMN scores the round 10-9 Johnson.

Round 2 – Leg kick inside from Ferguson. A few boos from the crowd begin. Nice straight right from Ferguson on the chin. Inside leg kick. Checks a kick. Nice punch from Johnson rocks Ferguson’s head back, he lands a counter uppercut. More boos. Nice solid left hand from Johnson. More boos. Right hand from Ferguson. Leg kick. Johnson’s working with the Blackzilians is evidently paying off. Big leg kick from Johnson. Leg kick from Ferguson. Then a left hand. PMN scores the round 10-9 Johnson.

Round 3 – Nice left from Johnson after catching a leg. He catches another kick and fires off a nice punch combo. Right hand from Ferguson scores. Body kick and a right hand buckles Johnson. Right to the body from Ferguson. Boos from the crowd. Left hand from Johnson. Leg kick and a big right from Ferguson snaps Johnson’s head sideways. Ferguson probably needs a KO or submission to win this fight. Inside leg kick, right hand from Ferguson. He needs to pour it on. Left hand from Johnson scores solid. Flying knee attempt from Johnson misses. Nice overhand right snaps Ferguson’s head back Johnson lands another left and one more that snaps Ferguson’s head back, repeat it two more times and he just won this fight convincingly. PMN scores the round 10-9 and the fight 30-27 for Johnson.

(HW) Lavar Johnson vs. Pat Barry

Round 1 – Big leg kick from Barry. Johnson clenches and pushes him to the cage. Head kick from Barry. He backs up. Big leg kick from Barry. Johnson clinches, knee to the gut. Clinches, lands three knees, an elbow. Muay Thai plum and lands a kneee and punches rocking Barry. Barry shoots, stuffed. Barry takes full mount, moves to side control. Barry has BJJ skills—holy smokes guys! Barry  looking for an Americana from side control. Barry is starting to crank, lets it go. Johnson throwing elbows off his back. Knee to belly. Barry landing some small punches. Now some elbows. Ref calling for work but he is working ref. I will be VERY mad if the ref stands Pat Barry up. Johnson gets to his knees and Barry lets him up. Big leg kick from Barry. Again. Knee from Johnson. Johnson hurts Barry with a head kick. Johnson has him backed to the cage and lands punch after punch after punch and Barry just tries to cover up and roll with them, hoping I guess Johnson would tire out. Barry is not moving out of the way. Johnson throws a big knee to the body then continues with the barrage of punches. Ref tells Barry to do something… he doesn’t and eventually drops straight down to the ground and Lavar Johnson just served notice to the UFC heavyweight division. (185) Rousimar Palhares vs. Alan Belcher

Round 1 – Front kick from Palhares misses. Palhares dives for a single leg and gets it easy. Palhares locks up a leg. Belcher looking for a twister, now a banana split. Belcher is in the advantageous position right now. Palhares goes for Belcher’s leg. Belcher is in trouble, Belcher lands a couple punches. Belcher playing this grappling game with a killer. Belcher is a BJJ black belt by the way but Palhares is a different kind of black belt. Palhares going for the heel hook. Belcher lands a punch to the face and escapes the danger. Rogan cheering on Belcher, telling him to get out of there. Belcher inside his full guard, lands a couple big shots, a few elbows. Belcher postures up and just pounded out Rousimar Palhares and just shocked the world — he shocked everyone except…. hey, really guys, why don’t you go read our staff picks for this fight… I wouldn’t lie to you.  But you can read my thoughts and predictions on this fight as well as the rest of the fights on the card. I don’t always get them all right, but I do impress myself every now and then.

(170) Josh Koscheck vs. Johny Hendricks

Round 1 – Front kick from Koscheck, high kick blocked. Flashing a jab, high kick blocked. Hendricks is wobbled and Koscheck pours on the head. Hendricks lands a couple shots that stops Kos’s advance. Hendricks wincing, apparently got poked in the eye. Uppercut and left hand from Hendricks. Hendricks gets Kos down to his butt and is pressing Kos to the cage. Knees to the thigh from Hendricks. Kos standing with Hendricks locked around his body. Ref separates them. Kos advances. Left hand from Hendricks. High kick from both guys blocked. Big right hand from Kos. Hendricks shoots. Kos uses a kimura to get him off. Combo from Kos, left counter from Hendricks. Kos ducks a big left. Front kick from Kos. Right from Hendricks lands behind the head. Right counter from Kos. He dodges an uppercut. Spinning backfist from Kos is blocked. Hendricks fires off a combo that misses before the bell. PMN scores the round 10-9 for Koscheck.

Round 2 – Hendricks doubles and triples up with the left but Kos gets out of the way. Uppercut from Hendricks. He shoots, stuffed, Kos takes his back. No hooks in yet as Hendricks is on one knee. He stands up and they square up. Kos’ right eye is beginning to swell. It’s the eye that had the broken orbital that almost ended his career. Hendricks shoots, presses to the cage, gives knees to the thighs of Kos. Body lock from Hendricks. The crowd boos at Hendricks strategy. Ref separates them. Kos misses a big right. Big shot by Hendricks, uppercut but Kos lands a big counter. They tie up against the cage. Big elbow from Kos. They separate and square up. Kos’ corner telling him to push the pace. They both miss head kicks. Right hand from Kos. Leg kick from Hendricks. Big left from Hendricks, he shoots for a single. Pretty close fight so far. PMN scores it 10-9 for Hendricks as I think he landed more overall strikes in that round.

Round 3 – Kos shoots under a punch, presses Hendricks to the cage. Boos from the crowd. Elbow from Hendricks to the side of the head. Ref separates them. Jab jab from Kos. Right hand, left uppercut from Hendricks. Right hand behind the head then a left from Hendricks. They both fire off big combos, both landing nice shots. Kos fires back and lands solid. These boys are slugging it out and they both have some tough chins. Kos moving forward, he eats a big knee but gets a takedown, is in half guard.  A minute and a half left in the fight. That was a big takedown for Kos, it could win him the fight possibly. Kos tries to mount, but Hendricks gets one leg in butterfly, now half guard. Elbows from Kos. Thirty seconds left. Kos in half guard, body shots and punches to the head staying busy. I think Kos just won the round and probably won the first. Very close fight. PMN scores the round 10-9 and the fight 29-28 for Koscheck.

Kos wobbled Hendricks in round one, that was the most significant exchange of that round other than Hendricks’ semi-takedown that he did nothing with and Kos got right up. Not to mention Kos seem to be the one moving forward the most. Hendricks definitely won round two and Kos definitely won round three, so I think Kos should have got the nod in this fight, however, it was extremely close.

(155) Nate Diaz vs. Jim Miller

Round 1 – Oh snaps kiddies… here we go. Big leg kick from Miller. Diaz with a jab. Clinch, knee from Miller. Dirty boxing from Nate. Tied up against the cage. Both guys are BJJ black belts. Knees from both in the clinch. Pummeling for position. Knee from Miller to the thigh. Miller slips to the ground. Kick to the body from Nate. Leg kick from Miller. Big leg kick from Miller. Tied up. Miller backs out. Nice right hook from Nate. Body shot, again. Leg kick from Diaz, right hand counter from Nate lands solid. Clinch, Nate pushes Miller to the cage. Miller gets underhooks, knee from Nate. Miller goes for a single leg, lifts it up high. Knee to the head from Nate. Body shots from Nate. Leg kick from Miller. Nate lands a combo right on the chin and it drops Miller to the ground. Nate gets a front headlock and Miller takes his back but Nate gets to his feet. Miller gets a takedown but Nate sweeps him. Awesome awesome fight!! Holy cow guys this is an amazing fight! And a five rounder!!! Yeeehawww! PMN scores the round 10-9 for Diaz.

Round 2 – Miller has never been finished. Leg kick from Miller. Clinch, knee from Miller. Clinch, several punches from Nate to the body and face. Elbow from Miller on the break. Clinch against the cage. Nate gives him a knee to the thigh, leaning on Miller. Dirty boxing from Nate. They separate. Knee from Miller, counter right from Diaz. Left hand from Diaz.Knee from Diaz, one two. Flying knee from Miller misses. Nate tells him to come on. They tie up. KNee from Diaz and dirty boxing. Right hand from Diaz. Miller is bleeding from his nose and his mouth is wide open. Diaz landed a big knee to the face that caused Miller to drop to his knees. Diaz lands another big knee. Nate taunting him. Diaz locks on a power guillotine, they roll and Jim Miller just tapped out. Nate Diaz is god! Nate Diaz is a god!  If anyone deserves a title shot it’s Nate Diaz. And let me be the first to say I am glad I was wrong about this fight. I actually picked Miller and am frankly glad I was wrong.  That was one of the most impressive displays of MMA I have ever seen. You have to remember, no one has ever finished Jim Miller. — Miller and Diaz hug after the fight and exchange pleasantries. Benson Henderson couldn’t even finish Miller. Nate has such great technique. Nate said only Gilbert Melendez is above him. Nate thanked Daniel Roberts, Cody McKenzie and Ronda Rousey for helping him out with this fight.

Miller said Nate had his number. Miller said Diaz deserves the title shot and no one should be before him or he should not have to go through anyone.

  3. Did you really? Oh man — that makes me really happy bro. I’m glad someone actually benefitted from that. I had a real feeling man. I’ve seen Lavar fight in person a few times and same with Barry. I was very surprised the bookmakers had Barry as the favorite to be honest. I was happy Barry was doing so good on the ground in the fight but why he just stood there and took those shots I have no idea. Looks like he could’ve just got the hell off the fence or shot in or something. Anyway… very happy for you!
