A new light heavyweight matchup between Ryan Jimmo and Anthony Perosh has been added to UFC 149. The bout will mark the UFC debut of former MFC Light Heavyweight Champion Ryan Jimmo.

UFC 149 will take place at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on July 21st. The main card will air on PPV with prelims expected to sir on FX and Facebook.

Ryan Jimmo (16-1) will enter this fight on a 16 fight winning streak after losing his first professional MMA bout in 207. Back in 2008 Jimmo was selected as one of the sixteen light heavyweights for season eight of “The Ultimate Fighter”, unfortunately in his first fight to gain entry into the house he lost a decision to Antwain Britt and was eliminated. Since then Ryan has been competing on the regional circuit and ended up fighting for the Maximum Fighting Championship based in Canada. He became the MFC Light Heavyweight Champion in 2011 and has defended the belt twice against Zak Cummings and in his most recent fight against UFC veteran Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. He now makes his way over to the UFC where he will look to continue his success.

Australian fighter Anthony “The Hippo” Perosh (13-6) joined the UFC for a second time back in 2010 where he was finished in front of his home crowd by Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipović at UFC 110.  Since that fight he has managed to turn things around and build up a three fight winning streak with victories over Tom Blackledge, Cyrille Diabaté and most recently Nick Penner at UFC on FX 2 earlier this year. Perosh has jumped from heavyweight to light heavyweight but now seems most comfortable at light heavyweight where he will look to extend his winning streak by welcoming Jimmo to the UFC with a loss.

  1. I have watched a handful of Mr. Jimmo’s fights on HDnet, I was very thankful to see them. They were the cure to my recent insomnia.
