Johny Hendricks is excited for fight with Josh Koscheck and hopes a win will seal a title shot.

Johnny Hendricks (12 -1) is a former 4 time All-American collegiate wrestler who captured two national championships while wrestling  for Oklahoma State during his collegiate career. With such a strong wrestling base, his opponents are obviously clued in to be wary of his takedown and dominance from the top position, but in two of his past three fights Hendricks has won by way of his fist and took home UFC “Knockout of the Night” bonuses. His opponents better be wary of those fists too. That is why on the UFC on FOX media call, Hendricks expressed excitement and a promise of a “fun” fight when he takes on Josh Koscheck (17 – 5) this Saturday at the UFC on FOX 3 event:

“You’re not going to see just another boring wrestling match; I think it’s going to be a fun one for everybody to watch, so I can’t wait. If I’m excited for a fight 95% of people out there should be excited and I’m excited for this one.”

Hendricks opponent; Josh Koscheck is also a collegiate wrestling stand out and UFC veteran. Both fighters are coming off wins; with Hendricks last win the more jaw dropping of the two, when he knocked out Jon Fitch only 12 seconds into the first round of their UFC 141 fight. That win puts Hendricks on a three fight win streak into this Saturdays fight with Koscheck. With the dismantling of the #2 ranked welterweight in his last fight and a win over the former title contender on Saturday, Hendricks expects a title shot in his future. When asked on the media call if a win should get his a title shot:

“Yeah, you don’t be number two or three in the world without being a tough fighter. That’s why I got into this division to see if I have what it takes to compete with these guys. All you can do is train and prepare your best.”

When asked on the proximity of the title shot with a win, Hendricks simply replied that he “hopes it’s soon.”
