UFC heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga

Just when we all thought that the UFC 146 heavyweight reshuffling was over, the injury bites and another matchup is made. The card has had major changes with literally every fighter on the main card facing a different opponent than originally booked for according to the UFC website.

Gabriel Gonzaga was the replacement to Antonio Silva to take on The Ultimate Fighter 10 winner; Roy Nelson. But only eight days into training for his new opponent, Nelson now has another opponent to get ready for after an injury has taken Gonzaga off the UFC 146 card. Roy Nelson (16–7) will now take on Dave Herman (21–3) on the May 26th card.

Both fighters are coming into this fight looking to get back on track after losses. Herman fell to Stefan Struve by TKO at the UFC on Fuel card this past February and Nelson is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Fabricio Werdum at UFC 143.

Former WEC Lightweight champion Jamie Varner (19-6-1, 2NC) will make his UFC return at this event as he is replacing an injured Evan Dunham to take on muay thai specialist Edson Barboza (10-0).

UFC 146 takes place May 26th, from the MGM Grand Garden Arena and is headlined by a Heavyweight Championship bout between Junior Dos Santos and Frank Mir.
