UFC on FX 3 was part of the Harley Davidson sponsored ‘Hometown Throw down’ competition where fight fans had the ability to choose and vote for the venue that the UFC would take the event to. “The Sunshine State” of Florida came out on top in the voting with Ft. Lauderdale being the winning “hometown” to host the fight card.

Headlining the fight card will be the flyweight rematch between Ian McCall and Demetrius Johnson, with the winner going on to fight for the inaugural UFC Flyweight Championship against Joseph Benavidez. Also slated for the televised portion is Charlie Brenneman vs. Erick Silva and Mike Pyle taking on Josh Neer. There was one last spot for a fight to make it on to the television and the decision was once again left in the hands of the fans. Three fights were in contention to be moved to the main card: Scott Jorgensen vs. Eddie Wineland, Mike Pierce vs Calos Eduardo Rocha and Seth Baczynski vs. Lance Benoist.
