Jamie Varner

It has emerged that Jamie Varner (19-6-1) will step in and take on Lee King (16-16-1) as a replacement for Alex Morono (4-1) at Legacy Fighting Championship 11. This will be a 160-pound catch weight fight which which is part of the main card that airs on HDNet.

The fight was announced by LFC promoter Mick Maynard who confirmed the bout with MMAjunkie.com earlier today. The event is set to take place on May 11th at Houston’s Arena Theater.

Jamie Varner enters this bout riding a two fight winning streak, both victories were  in the XFC promotion with the first coming against Nate Jolly in October 2011 where he ended the fight with a first round TKO. The second and most recent win was against Drew Fickett in February of this year where strikes ended the fight after only 40 seconds in the first round. Jamie has been in good form since his WEC days with a 3-1 run, he will now look to carry on his winning streak with a victory over King.

Lee King is a very experienced fighter who has been competing professionally in MMA for just under a decade. He has been fighting on the regional circuit and is currently on a three fight winning streak with victories over Mark Garcia, Scott O’Shaughnessy, and most recently Shawn Machado at LFC 10 which took place in February of this year. Lee won the fight via TKO in the first round. King is a dangerous fighter who can end fights via submission or knockout, so with both men in winning form this fight should be very interesting.
