ProMMAnow.com (www.prommanow.com) reporter Brian Furby caught up with UFC welterweight newcomer Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson (6-0) over the weekend at the Headrush booth at the 2012 Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio.

Thompson, a kickboxing veteran, left a memorable impression on MMA fans everywhere when he scored “knockout of the night” in his UFC debut with a head kick KO of fellow newcomer Dan Stittgen (7-2) at 4:13 of the first round at UFC 143 last month.

Thompson explained what it felt like to make such a big splash and take home that highly coveted “knockout of the night” bonus in his very first UFC fight.

Thompson will return to action next month when he faces scrappy veteran Matt “The Immortal” Brown (13-11) at UFC 145 on April 21 in Atlanta. “Wonderboy” talked about the step up in competition against Brown:

“Matt Brown, you know, I think it’s a good step up for me. He’s a really tough guy. He’s a big name in the UFC and I’m not going to take him lightly. I’m in training camp right now getting ready for UFC 145.”

Fight fans can follow Stephen on Twitter at @WonderboyMMA and visit his website at www.wonderboymma.com.
