Former top-10 middleweight Nate Marquardt (31-10-2) has signed with Strikeforce according to a report Tuesday evening on Fuel TV’s “UFC  Tonight”.

The report stated Marquardt will fight at welterweight and his Strikeforce debut later this year could possibly be against undefeated Tyron Woodley (10-0) for the vacant 170 pound title, although that is just speculation at this point.

Marquardt was released from the UFC in June of last year after testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone over and above what was allowed by a therapeutic use exemption.

Following his UFC release, Marquardt signed on to fight for U.K. based promotion BAMMA, but never got to make his debut due to event delays.
