It’s over just like that. This kid is dangerous. In his first UFC fight Silva won in just 40 seconds via TKO. — In a shocking turn of events, the bout is ruled a win for Prater due to disqualification. Referee Mario Yamasaki says Silva hit Prater in the back of the head… even more shocking was Rogan’s post fight interview with Yamasaki and Silva.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Carlo Prater def. Erick Silva by DQ (strikes to back of head) Rd 1 (:29)

In one of the strangest post-fight interviews I’ve ever seen — Joe Rogan confronts referee Mario Yamasaki about the call. He allows Mario to watch the replay and asks him if he feels good about the call. Mario said some hit him in the back of the head and some did not but he had to make the call right then in the heat of the moment. Joe then tells Silva he thinks Mario made a mistake. Basically, Joe put Mario on blast right in front of everyone. Strange. Personally, it seemed there was maybe one or two strikes landed to the back of the head but most of them did not and they definitely did not look intentional as Prater was turning his head away.

Rousimar Palhares vs. Mike Massenzio

Round 1 – A low blow halts the action for a moment. As they restart Massenzio swings for an uppercut. Palhares ducks, grabs a leg, pulls guard, wraps up a heel hook and Massenzio taps out quickly, but maybe not quick enough as it appears Palhares has took home another limb with him. AJ eating some big shots. Referee right there ready to stop it. Vitor locks on a choke. AJ just lets him take his neck and chokes him out. He’s asleep. Wow! Big win for Vitor. And this crowd erupts. Rogan says it’s the loudest crowd he’s ever heard. The question will be if AJ still has a job with the UFC after this. He did not fight a smart fight. Vitor’s beautiful wife comes into the cage along with his whole team.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Vitor Belfort def. Anthony Johnson by submission (rear-naked choke) Rd 1 (4:49)

This was Vitor’s first submission win since 1997 in Ultimate Japan!
