Richard and I were so impressed with the professional, even-handed judging and officiating of the Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine event, we decided to skip it and focus this week’s show on breaking down UFC 142. No offense to Rockhold and the rest of the Strikeforce crew who put on a solid show … but I think we should boycott any event that enlists the services of god-awful boxing judge Adelaide Byrd as an MMA judge. Long story short, Adelaide Byrd will make you pray for a Cecil Peoples cameo.

So, yeah, UFC 142. Featherweight champion Jose Aldo takes on possibly his toughest opponent to date, at least style-wise, in wrestling standout Chad Mendes. If Urijah Faber and Joseph Benavidez could procreate and make a fighter baby, it would be Mendes. Enjoy that image.

In addition to actually disagreeing on a few picks for once, we also give you the scoop on the potential snoozer of the card. Spoiler alert: if Erick Silva doesn’t get a big KO, you’ll want to use his fight against Carlo Prater to take a bathroom break and fetch a beer.

Lastly, we’ve received an occasional email saying that podbean is screwing up our podcast download/stream. We actually paid for that service, so send us a Tweet or email so we can bitch and complain to them properly: twitter.com/#!/MMAOUTSIDER or [email protected].
