The Ultimate Fighting Championship and FUEL TV kicked off their new relationship with a 24-hour UFC marathon on January 1 featuring the premiere of five new shows.

FUEL TV has confirmed that viewers tuned into the UFC programming in record numbers. Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012 was the second most-watched day in the network’s history with the Total Day average up +378% compared to the January 2011 average.

The network also had its highest-watched Primetime night ever, up +493% compared to the 2011 Sunday average. And the top show of the day, “UFC Bad Blood”, which aired at 7 p.m. ET, was the fourth most-watched show on FUEL TV among Households since the network became nationally rated.

“FUEL TV’s New Year’s Day Marathon of UFC programming was essentially Day 1 of FOX’s seven-year relationship with the UFC. FUEL TV plans to air more than 2,000 hours of UFC programming in 2012, with more than 100 hours of LIVE fights, weigh-ins, preliminary card bouts, and pre- and post-fight shows.
