The UFC website recently announced two new additions to the UFC 143 event that will take place on February 4th, in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC welterweight Josh Koscheck will do battle with Mike Pierce. Also, bantamweights Scott Jorgensen and Renan Barao will go to war.

Josh Koscheck was originally scheduled to take on Carlos Condit, but with Condit was given Nick Diaz as his new opponent when Georges St. Pierre went out with his knee injury which left Koscheck without an opponent. Mike Pierce lobbied hard via Twitter to fight Koscheck and got his wish, claiming that Koscheck had ducked a fight with him in the past.

Koscheck (16-5) was last seen in action knocking out UFC legend Matt Hughes at UFC 135. He was coming off a long layoff after recovering from injuries suffered in his loss against Georges St. Pierre at UFC 124 last December. Mike Pierce (13-4) was last seen in action taking a split decision win over Paul Bradley which took place at the initial UFC on FOX event last month. Pierce has won four of his last five with the lone loss coming via split decision against Johny Hendricks at UFC 133 earlier this summer.

Scott Jorgensen (13-4) was last seen in action beating MMA veteran Jeff Curran via unanimous decision at UFC 137. Jorgensen has won seven of his last eight fights with the lone loss coming against current champion Dominick Cruz. Renan Barao (27-1) is a highly touted up and comer who was last seen in action knocking out Brad Pickett at UFC 138. The winner of this fight could potentially be in line for the winner of the Dominick Cruz/Urijah Faber fight that will take place later next year.

UFC 143 will be headlined by a UFC interim welterweight title fight between Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz.
