Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz announces that he has retired the nickname “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” and from henceforth shall be known as “The People’s Champ”. He explains the reasons for the name change, talks about the significance of UFC on FOX and also discusses his upcoming fight with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 140.

  1. It’s true that Tito was a large part of helping Zuffa stay afloat during the dark ages…but he has always been terribly overrated as a fighter IMO. However, he is no dummy in regards to marketing himself.

    On the topic of overrated fighters, I believe he is rated exactly where he should be. Rated among the top tier of 205lb fighters from the early part of last decade. He has wins over Mezger, Kondo, and Wand (while they were in their prime), and a few more for good measure. He’s not anymore overrated the guys like the aforementioned Wand, Chuck, or Arona were in that time frame.
