After a grueling seven-week training camp where he dropped 50 lbs, Detroit MMA fan favorite Brendan “The Caucasian Devastation” Seguin (23 – 17 – 1) is ready to return to his hometown headquarters for another exciting battle.

Seguin will defend his Impact Fight League Middleweight Championship in the main event of Saturday, November 19’s “Caged Apocalypse” professional mixed martial arts event at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan, against Colorado Springs, Colorado’s Justin Guthrie (13-4).

Currently riding the longest winning streak of his career (six fights) that began in 2000, Seguin says he’s proud to be fighting in his third main event at the 10,000-seat Palace.

“I feel like I paid my dues and I’ve earned my reputation and it feels good. It’s a little more pressure fighting live here at home because everyone expects a win, and in a number of my recent fights I’ve been finishing guys quickly and setting the bar high, so it puts a little added pressure. But overall, it’s great and keeps me real and humbles me a little; keeps me from getting overly confident.”

In addition to his Impact Fight League belt, the 35-year-old Seguin is a former North American Allied Fight Series Welterweight Champion. In his latest Palace appearance, he successfully defended his title by scoring a first-round TKO (punches) over Chicago’s Hector Urbina in February of this year.

Seguin says he doesn’t know a lot about next opponent Guthrie, but isn’t terribly worried.

“I haven’t learned a whole lot about him from his fight footage, but I do gather from what I watched that he’s a pretty solid wrestler. He doesn’t throw a lot of hands, but likes to squirm on the ground. I know what to do with him. There isn’t a type of fighter I haven’t already faced.”

Seguin, whose fans can number in the thousands at his Palace fights, says he’s very proud to be appearing in such an important event for Michigan MMA and extends his thanks to event promoter Joseph Donofrio of Donofrio MMA.

“Joe treats me very well. He gives me a lot of support beyond simply promoting fights. He’s definitely the biggest MMA promoter in Michigan and I’m looking forward to putting on a good show for him and all my fans on Saturday night.”
