The UFC announced today that explosive lightweights Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller will face one another to headline the first UFC on FX (a.k.a. UFC Fight Night 26) event that will take place in January. The event’s location, though as of yet unconfirmed by the UFC, is expected to take place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., on Jan. 20.

Both fighters were one fight away from potential title shots going into their previous fights only to be dominated and come out on the losing end. Miller (20-3) lost a unanimous decision to current number one contender Ben Henderson back in August, but had won seven straight fights prior to that bout.

Guillard (29-9-2) was the victim of a huge upset in his outing last month against Joe Lauzon. Guillard the heavy favorite was stunned with a punch before being taken down and promptly submitted by the superior grappler in Lauzon. Guillard had won five fights prior to that loss.

The winner of this fight will quickly put themselves back in the title picture as both are still highly ranked lightweights. Other bouts on this card, which were announced Wednesday, include a heavyweight match-up between Pat Barry and Christian Morecraft and welterweight bout between Duane Ludwig and Josh Neer.

UPDATED: Steve Cofield of Yahoo’s Cagewriter blog first reported the event’s location on Wednesday.
