I have been working with the SKLZ Speed Striker for probably about two months now. I was excited to try this out because I used to use a similar product quite a few years ago and I was curious to see how it would compare.

This product has an adjustable elastic band that screws into the ceiling and is connected to a weighted round base that you can move around on the ground. In the middle of this elastic band is a semi-soft rubber ball about the size of a tennis ball, so when you hit the ball, it bounces around and the band brings it right back.

The great thing about this is the ball can be moved on the fly up or down the elastic band so you can practice high and low strikes. You can use this for punches, elbows, knees, kicks, palm strikes, backhand strikes and even head strikes if you were so inclined.

The product I used similar to this when I was in college taking Tae Kwon Do was much inferior. It cost less than $20 and had none of the adjustable features, nor the weighted base and it was overall made of inferior material.

I don’t see this wearing out for a long time. And I’m telling you, if you want something that will improve your accuracy, hand speed and endurance, the SKLZ Speed Striker can do that.

I work at a desk all day. But I also do most of my work at home. Any time I’m feel like it I can stand up, move a chair and a table and I have a makeshift gym right in my office. I’m not a pro fighter, I’m not even an amateur fighter, but it’s important to stay active.

I’m the type of person who needs my “workout” to be fun. I almost have to trick myself into working out by doing something that I enjoy enough to the point I forget I’m even exercising. This product does that for me.

I don't recommend putting the SKLZ Speed Striker in a doorway like this because it limits the training opportunities.

Most guys like to think of themselves as good with their hands. Use this a few times a week for a couple years and you really will be pretty good with your hands. If a person had this product in conjunction with a heavy bag, you would have your very own mini-training center.

The SKLZ Speed Striker does everything it is supposed to do and everything they advertise. It really is a very solid product. The product’s box reads: “Improve speed, timing and accuracy … speed, agility, quickness”. And it will do all of that and more.

The best part about this product is the most basic beginner to the most advanced boxer can benefit from this. You can start right where you are, and if you use this on a regular basis, you will improve your hand-eye coordination, striking and your striking endurance and you will have fun doing it.

The best place to install the SKLZ Speed Striker is in the middle of an open area so you can move all around it (not in a doorway as pictured). The number of training methods it can be used for is only limited by your imagination.

The cost of the SKLZ Speed Striker  is $49.99 and can be ordered on www.sklz.com. Due to the quality of the product and the benefits you will gain, it is more than worth the price. If you do happen to wear the ball out which I’m sure would take years of punishment, Sklz.com does have replacements. They also have cord-lock replacements which are used to adjust the height of the ball.
