Round One MMA Radio Show episode one recap:

On Thursday’s episode the guys welcomed as a guest former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans (interview starts at 25:00 mark). Darren asked Rashad if he had seen Nick Diaz down there running around and they discussed the issue of having to deal with all the press and how it can affect a fighter.

Rashad talked about “Spy-Gate” and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson‘s allegations there was a spy in his camp. Also, the subject of Jon Jones inevitably arose and Rashad, who has been known to play mental games with his opponents, said because of Jones’ young age it was pretty easy to get in his head. He called Jones a kid and said he was immature for his age.

Rashad explained where his ability to get inside his opponents’ heads came from and how he developed this ability to smack talk and use words as a weapon of sorts. Rashad discussed the one loss on his record against Lyoto Machida and shared his thoughts on a potential rematch.

Rashad explained why, and if he was serious, about offering to have Rampage come and train with him for his upcoming fight with Jon Jones. He said, although Rampage is a potential opponent for himself, he would like to see him do good in his fight with Jones, and does not believe Rampage’s previous coaches have been able to bring out the best in him.

Rashad also discussed his new team in South Florida, how they came together and the coaches and training partners he has been working with.

In addition to talking with Evans, the guys talked about the Nick Diaz situation, the recently announced Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem heavyweight bout scheduled for Dec. 30 and much more.
