UFC 134: Silva vs. Okami” takes place this evening at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the main event, UFC middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva will attempt to defend his title against number one challenger Yushin “Thunder” Okami.

The two first fought at “Rumble on the Rock 8” in Hawaii in 2006 and it ended early in round one after Silva was disqualified for an illegal up-kick that incapacitated Okami and left him unable to continue.

Silva has won 14 straight fights since the loss to Okami and has defended his UFC belt a record eight times. Okami has won three straight and last fought in Nov. 2010 when he won a unanimous decision over Nate Marquardt.

It has been nearly 13 years since the UFC held an event in Brazil, and in honor of that fact, they have stacked this card with 14 Brazilian fighters, including Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, who is taking on Forrest Griffin in the co-main event.

The two first fought at UFC 76 in Sept. 2007 in “Shogun’s” UFC debut and ended in the third round when Griffin choked the Brazilian out with just 15 seconds left in the match.

UFC 134 will air LIVE on Pay-Per-View starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT with the preliminary card bouts airing LIVE on Facebook (www.facebook.com/ufc) starting at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT and continuing on Spike TV at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
