(Tampa, FL) The Xtreme Fighting Championships (XFC) today announced the signing of Scott Barrett. With 11 out of 12 wins coming via TKO Barrett is considered to be one of the top heavyweight free agents in the world and will be the first of many new talents signed by the XFC.

“The signing of Scott Barrett is going to be big for our heavyweight division,” explained XFC President John Prisco. “I’ve had my eye on Scott for a while and I am thrilled to have him in the XFC. I’m really looking forward to seeing Scott in the cage Oct. 21st in Orlando. This guy won’t take you down and lay on you hoping for a decision like a lot of wrestlers. Scott finishes people and he is a guy who could be a champion one day.”

A product of the Hardcore Gym in Athens Georgia, ‘The Bear’ possesses an impressive 12-2 record. Barrett has fought twice in 2011 and each fight has ended with his hand raised after a first round TKO victory. In January Barrett defeated UFC veteran Mike Wessel with his superior wrestling followed by vicious ground and pound. In April he followed it up by doing the same thing to Kevin Brooks in Atlanta.

“I’m excited about the opportunity Mr. Prisco and the XFC have given me,” said Barrett. “I’m going to get to fight on HDNet against some of the best heavyweights in the world. I’m pumped and can’t wait to show the world what Scott Barrett is all about.”

Known for his wrestling and punishing ground and pound Barrett has made a name for himself on smaller shows around the country since he made his pro debut in 2007. But when asked about his accomplishments and record Barrett is reluctant to boast or brag. “I have to prove myself to the XFC and show them that I belong here,” said Barrett. “There will be no easy fights. I wanted to face the best and now I’m going to get to do that. I want to come put on a show for the fans and finish fights.”
