Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia will return to action against Brian Heden on a Fight Tour event, which takes place Aug. 20 at the Rockford MetroCentre in Rockford, Ill..

Heden steps in for Sylvia’s original opponent Shayne Adams. According to Fight Tour officials, the Illinois Athletic Commission would not approve the original fight. Adams will stay on the card and face David Hess.

After a rough three-fight stretch between 2008-2009, Sylvia seemed to have his career back on track with four wins over the likes of Mariusz Pudzianowski and Paul Buentello. However, in his last fight, Abe Wagner blitzed Sylvia early and finish him in less than a minute.

Sylvia won his first UFC title with a knockout over Ricco Rodriguez at UFC 41. He won back the title at UFC 59 with a first-round knockout of Andrei Arlovski. He also holds victories over Jeff Monson and Brandon Vera.

Heden will bring a 16-9 record into the cage. He has faced the likes of Brett Rogers, Ron Humphrey and Dan Severn. He has lost his last two fights against Carmelo Marrero and Tyler East.
