TUF 4 veteran and former UFC middleweight Edwin Dewees Jr., (37-15, 1 NC) was booked into the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde, Ariz., this past Thursday afternoon on charges of two counts of child abuse after his twin 2-year-old sons were found walking alone along the road near their home in Chino Valley, Ariz.

News of the arrest came Saturday via Arizona’s The Daily Courier.

Following up on a concerned citizen’s report, an officer found the twin boys, one wearing just a T-shirt, walking barefoot down Road 1 North at approximately 2:20 p.m., according  to Commander Mark Garcia of the Chino Valley Police Department.

Garcia also said officers tried unsuccessfully for nearly two hours to locate the children’s home and parents. Then at 4:10 p.m., the children’s mother flagged down a police officer in the area and reported two of her three children were missing.

The mother said she had left the twins with their father while she went shopping and when she returned they were missing. According to Sgt. Vince Schaan, Dewees said he had been cleaning inside the home, put the children down for a nap and did not hear them leave or notice they were gone until his wife returned home.

The children are currently in the custody of Child Protective Services pending further investigation.

After spending 2010 on the sidelines, Dewees returned to pro MMA competition this year, winning one of his three fights. He last fought on July 22, losing via first round submission (0:44) to Jacen Flynn at Bully’s Fight Night 2 in Alberta, Canada.
