Maryland’s Mike “The Hulk” Easton (10-1) will make his UFC debut on Oct. 1 when he takes on fellow bantamweight Jeff Hougland (10-4) at UFC on Versus 6 at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship confirmed the match-up on Tuesday via their website.

A BJJ black belt under Master Lloyd Irvin, Easton has long been considered one of the top prospects in the 135-pound division and has won his last five bouts.

However, Easton has not fought since his controversial decision win over Chase Beebe at UWC 7 on Oct. 2009, and was sidelined throughout 2010 and the first part of 2011 due to an elbow injury and subsequent surgeries.

Hougland made his UFC debut with a unanimous decision win over Donny Walker at UFC 132 earlier this month. He has won his last nine fights in a row.

Easton will share the card with teammate Dominick Cruz, who will be defending his bantamweight title against Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson in the UFC on Versus 6 main event.

Also, be sure to check out Mike Eason’s interview and what he had to say about Urijah Faber when he was a guest on the Afternoon Press Box radio show a couple months ago. If Easton gets past Hougland, an Easton vs. Faber match-up could be quite entertaining.
