Bellator 47 play-by-play:

Zak Jensen vs. Neil Grove

Round 1 – Both guys look serious. Grove lands three solid shots in the first five seconds but eats a counter that drops him. They scramble and Grove ends up on top inside Jensen’s guard. Grove lays on the ground and pound. Jensen fights back from the bottom and Grove falls back with an ankle lock. They start exchanging punches while Grove holds on to the ankle lock position. Grove lets the ankle go and postures up where Jensen throws up a triangle. Grove gets out and pounds Jemsem’s face until he goes unconscious. Full steam heavyweight action. That’s a fighter. Neil Grove is a fighter…he fights to finish. No holding back full force fight. He took a shot but came back with sever aggression. In real fights you’re going to eat a few now and then.

Chris Horodecki vs. Chris Saunders

Round 1 – Nice leg kick from Saunders, then connects on a spinning backfist that surprises Horodecki. Horodecki lands a couple leg kicks. Nice hook to the body from Horodecki. He presses Saunders against the cage. Horodecki grabs a single and puts Saunders on his back. Saunders has full guard. Horodecki working some ground and pound, looks for the mount, moves to side control, rolls over with a guillotine but Saunders pulls out and is on top inside full guard. Horodecki shrimping eats an elbow. He gets to his knees, Saunders tries to take his back and slides off. Horodeci on top now inside guard, lands a nice punch from top. Saunders trying to get up and does. Horodecki pressing him against the cage, puts Saunders down and Saunders going for a kimura. Horodecki pulls out of it and lands some shots to the ribs. More shots from Horodecki to the mid-section. 10-9 Horodecki.

Round 2 – Saunders locks up Horodecki, he moves out and back and Horodecki attacks. Ends up with a takedown, Saunders goes for a guillotine but loses it. Horodecki on top inside guard. Horodecki works from top with shots to the gut. Ref finally stands them up. They trade leg kicks. A couple punches from Horodecki and takes a body kick. Leg kick from Horodecki. One two from Horodecki, they trade knees from collar tie position. Horodecki puts Saunders on his back and works from inside the guard, staying busy with punches to the body. He moves to half guard, and works from there, looking to pass. 10-9 Horodecki.

Round 3 – They exchange shots before Horodecki puts Saunders on his back. He starts working from inside the guard again. Saunders threatens an armbar. Saunders gets to his feet. Horodecki with knees to the thighs, as he holds a body lock, pressing to the cage. Knee to the body from Saunders. Horodecki pressing, leaning, Ref pulls them apart. Leg kick from Horodecki. Saunders jumps up in the air but does not strike and instantly gets put on his back. Saunders holds a guillotine lets it go. Horodecki works from top control, full guard now. Horodecki working the ground and pound. Saunders throws up a sub attempt, Horodecki not fazed. He moves to full mount with 40 seconds to go. Horodecki surfs, lands punches and elbows as Saunders almost gives up his back. Saunders regains half guard but eats several punches. 10-9 and 30-27 for Horodecki.

Bellator Featherweight Tournament Semifinal
Nazareno Malegarie vs. Marlon Sandro

Round 1 – Good match-up here. Clinch, knee to the gut from Sandro. Sandro connects with a couple punches. Malegarie lands a nice shot before the clinch, they break, swing, miss from Malegarie. Sandro misses a combo. Lands  right to the gut. Nice left, right from Sandro stuns Malegarie. He shoots, stuffed, and eats several Sandro punches. Malegarie lands a left hook. Sandro lands one himself. Malegarie shoots for a single. Sandro pulls out. big left hook from Malegarie stuns Sandro. One two from Malegarie. He misses a head kick. Stiff left hand from Sandro. Mouse under the right eye of Malegarie. Left from Malegarie but eats a couple, lands one back. Body kick from Sandro, slips to the mat. Malegarie tries to pounce but unsuccessfully. 10-9 Sandro.

Round 2 – Sandro weaving, lands a couple punches. Malegarie comes in swinging. They have a few exchanges, tie up for a moment, go back to swinging. Malegarie lands a left. They trade rights. They trade again acting like they like to get hit. They swing big combos and miss. Not a high accuracy fight but both have good defense, lots of head movement from both guys really. Both guys swing big and miss, they tie up and Sandro puts him on his back. Malegarie gets up, eats an uppercut from Sandro. Then a left hook from Sandro. Sandro counters a combo with a left. Sandro ducks under a punch, shoots and pushes Malegarie to the cage. One minute to go. Sandro puts Malegarie down. Malegarie gets up and pays for it with several punches. Sandro lands a flying knee. Malegarie eats it seemingly unfazed. They tie up. Malegarie holds the cage and prevents a takedown. Ref doesn’t see it. 10-9 Sandro.

Round 3 – Sandro lands a few punches, makes Malegarie miss on his counters. Leg kick from Sandro. Jabs and a leg kick that drops Malegarie to the ground. He gets up, eats a punch combo. Leg kick from Sandro. One two from Sandro. Clinch, knees from both. They bump heads, touch gloves. Nice counter left from Sandro. Left hook from Malegarie. Nice counter right and a right hook from Sandro. Malegarie shoots, stuffed. Sandro’s boxing looking solid. Counter uppercut from Sandro, left hook. Malegarie keeps coming forward. Sandro shoots, pushes him to the cage. Knee to the thigh. Clinch, Malegarie tries for a trip. They separate. Jab from Sandro. Left hook from Malegarie scores. Leg kick from Malegarie. Two jumping knees from Sandro and they swing it out to the bell. 10-9 30-27 for Sandro.

Ronnie Mann vs. Pat Curran

Round 1 – Who will face Sandro in the final? Push kick from Curran. Mann eats a right on the side of his head. Mann eats a left hook. Mann with a leg kick. Curran counters with a four punch combo. Flying knee from Curran knocks Mann’s head back. He misses a front kick. One two from Curran. Leg kick from Mann. One two from Mann is mostly blocked. Front kick from Curran and Mann bats it down. Jumping knee from Curran misses. Lands a nice solid left hook on the chin, they clinch. Curran puts Mann on his back. Mann pulls mission control. Curran pulls out and stands up over Mann and attacks with punches. Mann trying to hang on from half guard. 10-9 for Curran.

Round 2 – Leg kick from Mann, Curran counter punches, flying knee misses. Curran catches Mann coming in with a combo. Flying knee from Curran misses. One two body kick from Mann. Leg kick from Mann. Flying knee from Curran forces Mann backward. Both fighters block head kicks. Two body kicks from Curran. Right counter by Mann. Jumping knee from Curran and they exchange shots. One minute to go. Curran times a right hook. Curran chasing Mann who is on the run. Double jumping knee lands and he forces Mann to the cage. Attempts a takedown but Mann jumps into a guillotine. Time runs out. Curran 10-9.

Round 3 – Shawn Tompkins gave Mann an earful. Curran touches Mann with the jab. Lands a left. Leg kick from Mann, one back from Curran. Mann with a leg kick. Jumping knee and a punch combo from Curran. Does not land. Leg kick from Mann. Body kick. Curran with the jab. Curran with a solid boxing stance, hard to get in on him. Big leg kick from Curran. Leg kick from Curran, again. Jab from Curran. Mann checks a kick. Inside leg kick from Curran. Curran with a body kick. Right hand from Mann. The crowd boos the action. Jab from Curran.
