BAMMA middleweight champion Tom “Kong” Watson will defend his title against former UFC title challenger Frank Trigg. The contest will be the main event of BAMMA 7, which takes place Sept. 10 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England.

Watson, who carries a 14-4 professional record, defeated Murilo “Ninja” Rua in his last fight to retain his belt. He originally won the championship with a five-round decision victory over UFC veteran Matt Horwich at BAMMA 3. Sine 2007, Watson lone defeat came against TUF veteran Jesse Taylor at MFC 26.

Trigg’s fighting career seemed virtually finished after he dropped back-to-back fights to Matt Serra and Josh Koscheck in his UFC return. However, since then he has picked up a pair of victories over Roy Neeman and John Phillips.

Over the course of his career, Trigg has fought for a UFC title twice and defeated Olympic medalist Makoto Takimoto, Kazuo Misaki and Jason “Mayhem” Miller.

BAMMA 7 will also feature a lightweight title fight as SRC veteran Leonardo Santos take on Rob Sinclair for the vacant belt. TUF winner Efrain Escudero will also return on the card against Tim Radcliffe.
