Tickets for “UFC 134: Silva vs. Okami 2” a.k.a. “UFC Rio” went on pre-sale Thursday.

In just one hour and 14 minutes, all 16,752 tickets, ranging in price from approximately $1000 to $170, were sold out.

The UFC’s highly anticipated return to Brazil will feature one of the country’s most celebrated sports figures, Anderson “The Spider” Silva, in the main event.

Silva, the current UFC middleweight champ and considered by most pundits the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world, was born in Sao Paulo and now resides in Curitiba.

Silva will put his title on the line against Japan’s Yushin “Thunder” Okami in a rematch from a 2006 bout in which Silva was disqualified for an illegal up-kick that rendered Okami unable to continue.

Other Brazilian fighters who have been confirmed for the card include Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira, Luiz Cane, Paulo Thiago, Edson Barboza, Thiago Tavares, Erick Silva and Yuri Alcantara.

UFC Rio will take place on Saturday, Aug. 27, at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is only the second time in history the UFC has held an event in Brazil. The first event, entitled “UFC Brazil“, took place in 1998.

The fight card sounds great, let’s just hope the UFC decides to make use of Brazilian hottie Juliana Salimeni as an Octagon girl as has been hinted at.
