Krzysztof Soszynski was all set to face Igor Pokrajac at this weekend’s UFC 131 card. However, now the Croatian has been forced off the card with an injury. Mike Massenzio will return to the promotion to fill the gap.

The change has been officially announced by the promotion. Interestingly enough, Pokrajac was actually an injury replacement for Soszynski’s original opponent Anthony Perosh.

Soszynski holds a 5-2 record in the UFC. He made his promotional debut after failing to win the eighth season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” In his last fight, he took a unanimous decision victory over Goran Reljic at UFC 122.

Massenzio’s first run in the UFC came to an end after falling victim to a triangle-choke submission at the hand of Brian Stann. His stretch ended with a 1-2 mark, and his only victory coming against Drew McFedries. In April, Massenzio got back on the winning track with a second-round TKO victory over Nate Kittredge at CZ 37.

Headlining UFC 131 is a heavyweight number-one contenders bout between Junior dos Santos and Shane Carwin. Brock Lesnar and Dos Santos recently coached against each other on the 13th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and were set to face off. However, Lesnar has now been forced off the card with another recurrence of diverticulitis.
