If the fans speak loud enough it seems the UFC will listen.

On Oct. 29, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (22-2) will face Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz (25-7, 1 NC) in the UFC 137 main event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

“U wanted it! U GOT IT!!! GSP vs DIAZ Oct 29th UFC 137 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.”

That was UFC President Dana White’s Tweet on Wednesday afternoon.

Remaining unbeaten since 2007, St-Pierre has knocked off Matt Serra, Jon Fitch, B.J. Penn, Thiago Alves, Dan Hardy, Josh Koscheck and most recently, Diaz’s own teammate Jake Shields.

Diaz has also remained unbeaten since 2007, and is on a 10-fight win streak. During that time he has stopped such challengers as Frank Shamrock, Scott Smith, Marius Zaromskis, Mach Sakurai, K.J. Noons, Evangelista Santos and Paul Daley.

This will not be Diaz’s first venture into the UFC. The Stockton brawler fought 10 times for the organization between 2003-2006, going 6-4.

No other bouts have yet been named for the Oct. 29 event. Stay tuned to ProMMAnow.com’s Upcoming Events page for fight card updates.
