Diego Sanchez gets his Van Damme on in the Jemez wilderness.

The UFC has officially announced a welterweight fight between Diego Sanchez and UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes. The promotion did not announce any details for the fight, but they did indicate that it would take place this fall.

Sanchez is coming off a high controversial decision victory over Martin Kampmann. Despite being soundly out struck according to both Fight Metric and CompuStrike, Sanchez walked out of the cage with a unanimous decision victory at UFC Live 3.

The TUF champion is now 2-1 since losing a shot at the lightweight title and returning to the welterweight division. Sanchez holds wins over Joe Stevenson, Nick Diaz and Kenny Florian.

Hughes, who is widely considered one of the best welterweight fighters of all time, went 2-1 in 2010. He defeated Renzo Gracie and Ricardo Almeida before being knocked out in the rubber match against rival B.J. Penn.

The two-time UFC welterweight champion has defeated Georges St. Pierre, Sean Sherk and Frank Trigg.
