MMAFighting has reported that Ryan Couture will return to action on June 24. He will headline Strikeforce Challengers 16, which has not been officially announced by the promotion.

The news comes on the verge of what could be the last fight for Ryan Couture’s father, MMA legend Randy Couture. The elder meets former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida at Saturday’s UFC 129.

Couture built a 5-1-1 amateur record and captured the Tuff-N-Uff title before turning professional in 2010.

In his professional debut, he defeated Lucas Stark with a triangle-choke submission less than two minutes into the first round. He returned earlier this year and picked up his second-straight submission victory. Lee Higgins submitted to a rear-naked choke with 19 seconds left in the fight.

Strikeforce’s next event is scheduled for June 18. The first round of the promotion’s Heavyweight Grand Prix will continue with Alistair Overeem taking on Fabricio Werdum, and Josh Barnett challenging Brett Rogers.
