According to a report from MMAFighting, Strikeforce is working towards a light heavyweight fight between Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante and Ovince St. Preux.

Multiple media sources have reported that according to both the promotion and the fighters’ camps nothing is official at the moment.

In his last fight, “Feijao” dropped the Strikeforce light heavyweight title to former two-division Pride FC champion Dan Henderson. The veteran effectively mixed his wrestling and striking and won by third-round knockout. The loss snapped a three-fight winning steak for Cavalcante. He won the belt by knocking out former champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal in 2010.

St. Preux is quickly rising up the ranks of the light heavyweight division. He made his promotional debut with a 47-second knockout of Chris Hawk. He now holds an undefeated 4-0 mark inside Strikeforce. In his last three fights, he has defeated Antwain Britt, Benji Radach and Abongo Humphrey.

Strikeforce’s upcoming July event is expected to feature a fight between light heavyweight champion Henderson and former Pride FC kingpin Fedor Emelianenko.
