At Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson, the Co-main event saw Golden Glory’s Marloes Coenen defended her Strikeforce Women’s Welterweight Championship for the first time. Her game opponent Liz Carmouche on short notice took the fight to the bigger champion before succumbing to a 4th round triangle.
For nearly three rounds the champion was hard to figure out her challenger. However once championship rounds arrived, the champion did what champions do. She found a way to win. And win is all Golden Glory seems to do these days. No one can forget the 2010 her teammate Alistair Overeem had. Nor the impressive showing of Semmy Schilt and Gokhan Saki, Gokhan Saki who you can see next on March 19th in the Glory World Series semi finals.
Recently another teammate Sergey Kharitonov decisively made his return to the American soil with a trouncing of Andrei Arlovski in Strikeforce’s Heavyweight Grand Prix the same night Valentijn Overeem made quick work of Rey Sefo. As recently as last week another Golden Glory is on the fast track, Nieky Holzeken won yet another world title for the camp.
John Olaf Einemo also signed this week with the UFC. After a long battle with health the Scandinavian Viking is back and ready to make up for lost time. Look out UFC, you’ve just been put on notice.
Meanwhile, as K-1 continues to struggle and sort their financial affairs, Golden Glory refuses rests. Keeping busy in the Fight Game as well as out, we will see Marloes Coenen appearing in a new Feature Film, Co Produced by Manager and hollywood Producer Bas Boon entitled Amsterdam Heavy, along with Teammates Alistair Overeem, Semmy Schilt and Gokhan Saki. All will be featured next to the great American character actor Michael Madsen.
Marloes Coenen has been an international star for years but is just scratching the surface and there is no doubt she is going to be a major star in the USA. This Golden Glory female warrior could become the most famous foreign fighting woman on American soil. With the looks of movie star looks, well spoken in many languages including English, training with Golden Glory and with the most expierince manager in the business today, Marloes is going to rule 2011!
Fight Game continues their worldwide movement and sponsoring the Golden Glory camp seems to be a smart move.
