On Saturday, the latest collegiate wrestling standout to turn to MMA, Jared Rosholt made his professional MMA debut against Dee Burchfield at Art of War: Cage Fights. The Team Takedown product and three-time NCAA Division I All-American has been training with Marc Laimon at The Gym in Arlington, Texas since last summer.

  1. Any info on Zabriskie moving over Rich? He reminds me of Cain, but actually won the close one.

  2. No shit, well that’s awesome. Maybe we can get a metal out of him. Does he look as good at 211 as he did at 265(or 285)?

  3. Normally, I would never advocate a drop down in weight. Since heavyweight is almost always weaker in MMA and wrestling, but Zabriskie looked undersized at times in college. Also, heavyweight is probably one of the strongest weights in U.S. freestyle with Dlagnev, Sigman, Rowlands, Mocco and company.

On the medal tip, I think Jake Varner, if healthy, is a significant threat to medal at 96 kg for the U.S. He reached the semifinals of the Ivan Yarygin before defaulting with an injury to the eventual champion.
