Strikeforce welterweight contender and UFC veteran Paul Daley (26-9-2) failed to make weight for his BAMMA 5 title bout against Yuya Shirai this Saturday, according to MMAJunkie.com.

Daley’s manager Wad Alameddine told Junkie that Daley missed the mark by about 0.8 pounds, within the usual one-pound allowance for non-title bouts. However, fighters are required to come in on target for title fights, and the fight will go on as a three-round non-title fight, the report says.

Alameddine stated:

We had a few issues. The place where the weigh-in was happening, there was no sauna to use, so we had to travel like half an hour to get to a sauna.

If Daley wins, he’ll be in line for a shot at Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz.

This isn’t the first time Daley has had trouble at the scales. Daley came in several pounds over 170 for a Sept. 11 fight against Jorge Masvidal at Shark Fights 13.
