Women’s MMA sensation Gina Carano (7-1) could return to the cage in late June of this year, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said on Feb. 12.

Coker mentioned the possible return date during a post-fight press conference following the kickoff of the heavyweight grand prix in East Rutherford, N.J.

Carano herself had confirmed her plans to come back to fighting during the Strikeforce telecast.

Although Carano became the face of women’s mixed martial arts with several impressive performances under the EliteXC banner, she suffered a first round TKO loss to fellow phenom Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos. Cyborg has since won two more fights and looked unstoppable in the process.
