On Thursday, Melvin Manhoef announced that he would take a fight on the next Strikeforce card. The upcoming card takes place on March 5 at the Nation Wide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

The fighter did not reveal who he would be fighting. He only indicated his participation in the event.

Manhoef had a tough MMA year in 2010. He made his Strikeforce debut against Robbie Lawler. The K-1 veteran was in control early, but Lawler landed a massive knockout shot and took the fight. Manhoef then returned to Japan to compete in the Dream light heavyweight tournament. He was eliminated in the first round when Tatsuya Mizuno scored the biggest win of his career and submitted Manhoef with a Kimura lock.

The Dutch-Surinamese fighter is a veteran of 33 MMA fights and 46 kickboxing fights. On the MMA side, he holds impressive victories over Kazuo Misaki, Mark Hunt, Kazushi Sakuraba and Evangelist “Cyborg” Santos. As a kickboxer, he has defeated Stefan Leko and Ruslan Karaev. He has also held the It’s Showtime 85Max world title.

Strikeforce “Columbus” will feature a pair of title fights. In the light heavyweight division, champion Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante will defend his belt against former Pride champion Dan Henderson. Marloes Coenen will also put her 135-pound women’s title on the line against Miesha Tate.
