During the mixed martial arts hour on Wednesday’s episode of AFTERNOON PRESS BOX on Sports Radio 560 WNSR, hosts Darren McFarland, Brad Hopkins, Chris Pappas and Ed Clay spoke with UFC heavyweight Pat Barry about his upcoming fight with Joey Beltran which takes place this Saturday at “UFC – Fight for the Troops 2” and will air live on Spike TV at 9 p.m. ET.
In addition to his upcoming fight, Barry also talked about training with former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and the oath of secrecy he was sworn to. He discussed what went wrong in the Cro Cop fight, how he almost threw the towel in and the unfair criticism he has received since the fight.
Barry also explains how he found out size was important when it comes to grappling and why being the biggest guy in the gym is not always the best thing. Just like in the Octagon, Barry pours himself fully into whatever he does, including this interview. It’s “Hype or Die” in full effect – if you’ are a Barry fan, you don’t want to miss this one. And if you aren’t a Barry fan yet, you will be after this.
The AFTERNOON PRESS BOX features an MMA hour which airs LIVE each Wednesday afternoon from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. CT on Sports Radio 560 WNSR AM which can be heard in the Nashville and Middle Tennessee market or online on the WNSR website at WWW.WNSR.COM. It is one of the very few mixed martial arts shows you can listen to on traditional radio.
