New York, NY (January 17, 2011) – Adding some anticipated lightweight fury into the undercard mix at M-1 Challenge XXIII on Saturday, March 5th, Team MMA Spirit’s Daniel Weichel (25-7) will face the talented Rusfighters propsect Magomedrasul Khasbulaev (16-4); all the evening’s action from the Crocus City Arena in Moscow, Russia can be caught LIVE online for free on the official M-1 website, www.M-1Global.com, starting at 11:00am EST / 8:00am PST.

“Weichel put on a clinic his last time out and his exciting, relentless fighting style is a welcome addition to an already great card at M-1 Challenge XXIII,” says Evgeni Kogan, Director of Operations for M-1 Global. “With Khasbulaev keeping eye on developments in the weight classes and making the smart transition to 155 pounds, he’s had good success however Weichel will be the toughest test since moving down.”

Since his loss to current M-1 Challenge welterweight champion Shamil Zavurov, Khasbulaev has elected to shed the pounds and drop to lightweight which seems to have improved his game; a crafty and versatile fighter in his own right, Khasbulaev is riding a two-fight streak and has gone 4-1 since July. Weichel, on the other hand, delivered an astonishing performance over Yuri Ivlev this past October making the German striker victorious in seven of his last eight bouts.

The winner of this lightweight contention bout steps closer in the right direction for a potential title shot down the road.
