Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante could make his first title defense against UFC veteran and former PRIDE champion Dan Henderson on March 5 in Columbus, Ohio, according to MMAFighting.com, though the report emphasizes that the fight “is not yet signed, with contract negotiations ongoing.”

With the UFC bypassing it’s unofficial annual stop in Columbus to coincide with the Arnold Sports Festival 2011, Strikeforce is looking to fill that void and take advantage of the influx of sports fans and fight enthusiasts.

Feijao improved to 10-2 and won the Strikeforce belt with a third round TKO win over Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal on Aug. 21 at Strikeforce: Houston.

Henderson (26-8) made his Strikeforce debut at 185 pounds and beat up current UFC welterweight contender Jake Shields for the first five minutes before succumbing to Shield’s takedown attempts en route to a decision loss. In his next bout, Hendo moved back up to 205 and scored a brutal KO victory over Renato “Babalu” Sobral on Dec. 4 in St. Louis.
