Sportsnet.ca reported today that The Ultimate Fighter 12 winner Jonathan Brookins is “expected” to fight UFC lightweight prospect John Makdessi at UFC 129 in Toronto. However, Makdessi’s manager, Mitch Mayberger, told ProMMAnow.com that the match-up has not been set.

“I don’t believe the fight is happening,” Mayberger said via email. “There is nothing signed.”

Brookins (12-3) won TUF 12 with a decision win over Michael Johnson on Dec. 4. Johnson hurt Brookins on the feet in the first round, but Brookins eventually managed to get the fight to the mat in rounds two and three and utilize his ground skills.

Makdessi, meanwhile, had an impressive UFC debut on Dec. 11 at UFC 124 in Montreal, outclassing Pat Audinwood on the feet for three rounds.

According to the Sportsnet.ca article, another UFC 129 bout in the works is Rory MacDonald (10-1) vs. James Wilks (7-4). MacDonald, a very promising welterweight, has been sidelined with an injury since UFC 115, where he controlled the action against contender Carlos Condit for two-plus rounds before suffering a late, come-from-behind TKO loss.

Wilks won TUF 9 but has only gone 1-2 in the UFC since then, defeating Peter Sobotta but suffering losses to Matt Brown and Claude Patrick.
