In a new interview with MMA Mania, UFC heavyweight Roy “Big Country” Nelson talks about his contract issues with Roy Jones Jr.’s Square Ring Promotions, when he thinks he will be back in the Octagon, and he also talks about what he think will happen when UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has his first title defense against Junior Dos Santos:

Who do you think is going to win the Cain Velasquez vs Junior dos Santos fight?

Roy Nelson: I think if Cain Velasquez doesn’t get Junior down in the first two minutes, I see Junior winning.

You think he’ll knock him out?

Roy Nelson: I believe he’ll knock him out.

What can we expect in the future from Roy Nelson?

Roy Nelson: You can expect a lot of fun and exciting tweets, great fights and hopefully in 2011 you’ll see Roy Nelson fight for the belt. At least, if I have my way.

A lot of people seem to think Junior has the better striking, but could he really knockout Velasquez in a five round fight? It is pretty obvious Velasquez will have the wrestling advantage, and then there is the cardio issue to consider. No official date has been set for Velasquez vs. Dos Santos but the fight will likely take place in the Spring or Summer 2011.

Nelson expects his contract issues to be settled and that he will be back fighting inside the UFC Octagon sometime in 2011. He also says he would love a rematch with Dos Santos and expects it would be for the title after Dos Santos takes it from Velasquez.
