With his submission win over Joe Lauzon Saturday night at UFC 123, George Sotiropolous has secured himself a fight against Dennis Siver for what will likely be a number one lightweight contender fight.

Sotiropoulos and Siver will clash when the UFC returns to Sydney, Australia in early 2011. UFC President Dana White confirmed the match-up at the UFC 123 post-fight press conference.

Sotiropoulos said he was looking forward to once again fighting in his home country of Australia. Though not officially announced, UFC 127 is expected to take place on Feb. 27 at Acer Arena in Sydney.

Sotiropoulos (14-2-1) remains undefeated in his UFC career. Having debuted at the TUF 6 Finale in 2007, Sotiropoulos has won seven straight fights, finishing all but two. His most recent victories prior to Lauzon were against Kurt Pellegrino, Joe Stevenson and Jason Dent.

If he were to get past Siver, no one could say Sotiropoulos did not earn his title shot.

Siver (17-7) put on an impressive performance with a first round submission of Andre Winner at UFC 122 in Germany last week. Prior to that, he won a unanimous decision over Spencer Fisher at the TUF 11 Finale in June.

Other bouts expected to take place at UFC 127 in Sydney include Carlos Condit vs. Chris Lytle and Michael Bisping vs. Jorge Rivera.
