The integration of WEC fighters into the UFC continues. Mark Hominick and George Roop are set to face off at UFC Fight for the Troops 2. Although the card is not officially announced, multiple media sources have reported it will take place on Jan. 22 at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.

Heavy.com was the first to report the fight, and several other media outlets have confirmed the fight as well.

Both fighters currently train under Shawn Tompkins. However, the fighters will still face off despite fighting under the same coach.

Hominick burst onto the UFC scene as an undersized lightweight. He picked up wins over Yves Edwards and Jorge Gurgel. He then moved to the WEC, while continuing to compete on the local circuit. Two WEC losses to Rani Yahya and Josh Grispi led the promotion to release him. Hominick then picked up a submission win over Savant Young and was invited back. He is currently riding a three-fight winning streak in the promotion.

The argument could be made that Roop has one of the most interesting comeback stories in MMA. After failing to win the eighth season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” he was still given a chance in the UFC. However, after going 1-2 Zuffa released him. He dropped all the way to bantamweight for his WEC debut, but dropped the decision to former champion Eddie Wineland. He then fought Leonard Garcia to a “Fight of the Night” draw and picked up a “Knockout of the Night” victory over hot-prospect Chan Sung Jung.

Headlining UFC Fight for the Troops 2 is a lightweight contest. Kenny Florian will take on fast-rising prospect Evan Dunham. Also on the card, Yves Edwards will meet Melvin Guillard.
