Rising heavyweight prospect Greg Maynard defeated MMA veteran Johnathan Ivey Saturday night, Oct. 23, at Gruesome MMA in Pikeville, Ky. Maynard got back on the winning track with a unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) after losing a short notice fight to Ron Sparks at Bellator 30 back in September. Maynard improves his pro record to 3-1.

Ivey, who fights out of SSF in Clarksville, Tenn., is coming off a loss to UFC Hall-of-Famer Ken Shamrock which took place just last weekend (watch here). Ivey is known as the king of the leg-lock and a consummate entertainer who is willing to fight anyone anytime.

We’ve been following Greg Maynard’s career here at ProMMAnow.com since his amateur days and he always rocks a Pro MMA Now patch on his shorts and we thank him for that. Congratulations to Greg Maynard for winning this fight over a wily veteran.
