Bellator 28 takes place this evening at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts in New Orleans, La. The card, which will air live on FOX Sports Net, features UFC veteran Rich Clementi (37-16-1) facing off with Carey Vanier (9-3) in a lightweight bout, former IFL middleweight champ Matt Horwich (25-15-1) taking on WEC veteran Eric Schambari (12-2) and a featherweight matchup between Georgi Karakhanyan (13-2-1) and Anthony Leone (8-1). will provide live results and play-by-play commentary of Bellator 28 starting at approximately 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.

Bellator 28 play-by-play:

Anthony Leone vs. Georgi Karakhanyan

Round 1 – Georgi with a leg kick, Leone swings with a combo then clinches. Clinched against the cage, Leone with underhooks. Elbow from Leone. Georgi gets underhooks and reverses , Leone reverses, drops levels for a takedown and Georgi goes for a standing guillotine, doesn’t get it but trips Leone and ends up on top on the ground. Leone briefly brings a high guard, lets it go. Georgi inside Leone’s full guard, throwing shots as Leone shrimps and tries to avoid punishment. Georgi moves to half guard, locks on an arm in guillotine. Leone ends up reversing and ends up on top. Georgi sweeps and ends up back on top inside half butterfly guard. Elbow from the top. Leone gets hold of a leg but Georgi starts raining down punches and a knee before the bell sounds. 10-9 for Georgi Karakhanyan.

Round 2 – Georgi jumps forward with a punch, misses, they clinch. Leone drops levels and puts Georgi on his back, lands inside his full guard. Leone looks to pass, Georgi throws up a triangle twice, but Leone is out, takes his back. Georgi reverses and ends up on top. Leone looking for a toe hold, Georgi escapes and is on top in half guard. Leone gets free and is on top in full guard. Georgi trying to get up but Leone drags him back down. Georgi gives up his back. Leone takes it with one hook in. Georgi gets free and ends up on top in half guard. Knee to the body from Karakhanyan, then some elbows. Knee to the chest from Karakhanyan. Leone gets to his knees, grabs a single, then a double and puts Karakhanyan on his back. Leone on top in full guard stays busy until bell sounds. Close round. No real damage done. I would still give it to Karakhanyan 10-9.

Round 3 – Georgi gets a single and tosses Leone to the ground but he’s right up. Leone grabs a single leg and drives Karakhanyan into the cage. Karakhanyan tells the ref Leone is stalling. Leone drops levels, looking for the takedown. Karakhanyan gives him a knee for his troubles but Leone still not giving up. Great defense from Karakhanyan, another knee to the body.Karakhanyan grabs a guillotine but Leone lifts him up big for a slam. Karakhanyan shrimping and throwing shots from his back. He sweeps and is on top of Leone. Leone tries to get up but Karkhanyan drives forward and keeps him on his back. Karakhanyan takes Leone’s back as he turtles. Leone gets free but ends up on the bottom. Only 40 seconds left in the fight. Karakhanyan winning this round with control. He takes Leone’s back again with ten seconds left. That’s it. 10-9 for Georgi Karakhanyan and 30-27 for him too as I see it. Jimmy Smith gave round two to Leone and I would not argue much against that.

NOTES: They just announced that Ricco Rodriguez will take on Dave “Pee Wee” Herman in Bellator in three weeks in Lake Charles, La.

Matt Horwich vs. Eric Schambari

Round 1 – Horwich coming forward, eats a shot to the body. He’s stalking Schambari with that awkward style and eats a huge right hand from Schambari. Horwich just eats it and keeps coming. They tie up briefly but square up again. Schambari lands several punches but Horwich gets the clinch. Schambari backs up enough to land a few shots. Horwich grabs the Thai clinch but can’t get anything off. Schambari gets Horwich to the ground and has him up against the cage. Horwich gets to a knee then to his feet. Horwich stalking, lands a leg kick. They tie up. Big knee by Horwich. Schambari drops levels, looking for a single. Horwich defending, gets wrist control. Schambari backs out and squares up. Horwich comes forward, leg kick. Schambari fires off some shots and goes for a takedown at the bell. Hard round to call. I’m gonna give it to Schambari 10-9.

Round 2 – Schambari gets a takedown right away, gets half guard. Body shots from the top by Schambari. Horwich makes his way to his feet, eats a couple knees before getting free. Schambari grabs a single, pressing Horwich to the cage. Horwich grabs Schambari’s arm in a kimura position but can’t do anything with it except hold it. At a stale mate. Schambari lands a nice elbow on the break. Horwich comes at him but eats several punches. Horwich grabs a Thai clinch throws an ugly slow knee. Schambari drops levels for a single leg. Back to the stale mate position with Horwich holding that kimura position. Ten seconds to go. Pretty boring round 10-9 for Schambari.

Round 3 – Final round. Ref makes them touch gloves. Schambari lands a couple punches, Horwich lands a body kick. Schambari lands a few more punches to the face. Horwich standing straight up, leg kick, body kick. Schambari shoots, grabs a single, and we’re back to the stale mate. They are stuck in this position for a couple minutes before Horwich just lays down and Schambari is on top. Horwich has full guard and is looking for the submission. Schambari holds on as Horwich gets up but gets slammed right back down. Horwich pulls a high closed guard. Up kick from Horwich. Horwich tries to get up but Schambari jumps back on top and keeps him down. 10-9 and 30-27 for Schambari. It wasn’t pretty by any means. Horwich does some acrobatics after the bell.

NOTES: How in the hell any judge saw that fight for Horwich needs to have his licensed revoked IMMEDIATELY!!!

Rich Clementi vs. Carey Vanier

NOTES: This is a lightweight tournament qualifier. The winner will be included in Bellator’s season four 155 lb. tournament.

Round 1 – Vanier lands a left hand. Clementi walking him down. Clementi shoots gets a big double leg slam. Vanier looks for a kimura attempt. Clementi gets full mount and takes his back with both hooks in as Vanier turtles. Vanier spins and is on top for about one second. Clementi with a body triangle and as Vanier is on his knees. Vanier falls to his side, Clementi still with the body triangle. Vanier defending the rear naked choke attempt. Vanier grabbing at Clementi’s wrists trying to stay safe. Vanier turns to his knees. Clementi is a hometown hero here being a Louisiana native. Vanier spinning out of danger and ends up on top of Clementi inside his guard. Clementi lets go the body triangle. Clementi looks for a kimura but eventually lets it go. 30 seconds left in the round. Vanier stands up lands a big right. Kicks Clementi’s leg. Clementi gets up at the bell. Clementi gets the round 10-9.

Round 2 – Clementi eats a leg kick. Clementi misses with a head kick. Vanier lands a nice jab then a straight left. Leg kick by Clementi. Overhand left from Clementi. Nice combo and body shot from Vanier. Leg kick Clementi. Leg kick Vanier. Clementi shoots, gets a double and puts Vanier down. Vanier gets up as Clementi tries to take his back. Vanier spins and ends up on top of Clementi in his full guard. Clementi gets out and up to this feet. Leg kick Clementi. Knee to the head by Vanier, then Clementi tries for a takedown but falls down hard on his back with Vanier on top. Clementi on top now and Vanier is going for an arm in guillotine. He eventually lets it go. Vanier on top in Clementi’s full guard. 30 seconds left in the round. Vanier throws a few shots before the bell but nothing lands. I’d still give that round to Clementi 10-9.

Round 3 – Nice left from Vanier. Head kick misses overhead with a high kick. Clementi shoots, ends up on the bottom with Vanier going for D’arce choke. Clementi rolls and gets up. They square up. Big knee from the Thai clinch by Vanier. Vanier gets the double leg takedown, has Clementi against the cage. Clementi gets to one knee, trying to get to his feet. Vanier hanging on him, throws a couple big knees. Vanier throws two illegal knees and cuts Clementi very badly as the ref just watches clueless. Clementi yells at the referee to look at his hand. Clementi has a very bad cut and Vanier should be docked a point or the ref should  give Clementi a grip of money. That sucks. They restart it. Vanier picks Clementi up high, Clementi locks on a guillotine but eventually lets it go. Vanier puts him down softly and is on top. Clementi gets to his knees and Vanier throws another illegal knee. Clementi stands up and Vanier has a body lock from the back. Clementi rolls to avoid the suplex. Vanier with a front head lock, locks on a guillotine with ten seconds to go, it was tight but Clementi is saved by the bell. Vanier gets that round 10-9 but Clementi gets the fight 29-28 as I see it. Second round could have gone either way though.

NOTES: I’m calling bullshit. Those illegal knees busted Clementi up bad and most definitely had to have an effect on him the rest of the third round. Not to mention the guy should have been probably docked a point. It wasn’t just one knee, it was two hard knees to the head. Really sucks for Rich Clementi.

Marcus Andrusia vs. Eric Larkin

Round 1 – Larkin drops Andrusia with a big head kick. He then locks on a guillotine to a rocked Andrusia. He lets it go. Andrusia on his back and eats some shots from Larkin as he stands above him. Larkin lands a big left hand and Andrusia covering up looks like he’s done.  Andrusia in fetal position covering up. Nice hard left to the face. Andrusia in pure defense mode. Larkin locks on another guillotine. Very tight, very tight and Andrusia taps out. Tremendous debut for Larkin.
