Following the news of his shocking release from the UFC, heavyweight prospect Todd Duffee (6-1) told MMAJunkie that even he isn’t exactly sure what led to his departure, but sounded determined to make his way back.

“Emotionally, I’m hurt,” Duffee said. “I’m hurt more than anything because I don’t know why. As a man, you just want to hear why so you can understand.”

Nevertheless, Duffee doesn’t hold any ill will toward the UFC and hopes to fight pretty regularly and work his way back up the ladder.

“I’ve just got to worry about getting healthy. I want to get fully healed, and then I’d like to fight once a month next year. I look at guys like (Strikeforce heavyweight) Daniel Cormier, and I think it’s awesome. He fought three times in three weeks, and he won all three of them. I would love to go on a tear.”

Duffee knocked out Tim Hague in record time at UFC 102 and dominated Mike Russow at UFC 114 for two-and-a-half rounds before succumbing to a surprise, come-from-behind knockout courtesy of a well-timed uppercut.
